Start the day with a drive through Stara Planina (Balkan Moutain), crossing the Pethrochan pass. Learn all about the double sided carpet-making technique, which dates back to the 17th centuries and its part of the UNESCO’s protected non-material cultural heritage list. Try some traditional meals, and be part of the Bulgarian atmosphere and folklore that this place offers. Drive to the Belogradchik Fortress and enjoy the beauty of our country passing by the magnificent red rock formations. Visit the hidden Klisurski Monastery, the only place on the Balkans, where the nuns still paint the icons in an original old Byzantian way. Immerse yourself in the local legends kept in the trees and take a sip from the healing waters streaming from the mountains. Eat like a local in the near Restaurant and try fresh trout right from the fish-pond.

You can extend the trip with a night under Belogradchik Rocks and next day we can visit  Magura Cave, famous with its paintings from early Paleolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Ages meet you with Maya from Prevala – a local producer who is using family recipes over 5 generations for making her own jams. You will have the chance to taste home-made Bulgarian Yoghurt and enjoy lunch made of freshly grown vegetables.( private tour*)
